The Talent Directory is not a simple resume database, rather, it is an "opt in" working talent management system. It is being built in conjunction with my Talent Ecology project, "The Study of Integrating Managed Talent with Business Purpose & Mission." Companies that wish to sponsor this project can get full access to the Talent Directory.

Because I believe that talent management and "best of breed" recruiting is based upon the relationships you have with people, I have partnered with Salesforce.com in creating a Contact Relationship Management (CRM) model that can be distributed to companies on an individual basis.

DISTRIBUTED MODEL

What this means to a company is that it allows for each company to have their own "talent directory" that can be managed and designed to meet their own requirements. It can also focus on their industry.

What this means to the talent is that their information can be viewed internally by all participating companies allowing you to develop a relationship with people "inside the walls" . You can also update your profile in one place, and have it updated in all the company talent directories.

WHAT IS IN A TALENT DIRECTORY THAT A COMPANY CAN USE

Like Amazon.com and all Salesforce.com applications, the layout of the Talent Directory is based visually upon tabs. Those tabs are:

Home Tab: View your calendar, tasks, and dashboard reporting. The Talent Directory integrates and syncs up with your Micrsoft Outtlook.
Company Tab: This is a list of your competitors in your industry and all the contacts that we have that work there. We also list "in-direct" competitors. Those are companies that do not compete with you in the marketplace, but you do compete for the same kind of talent for whatever reason.
Contacts Tab: This is where you find all the people.
Reports Tab: Salesforce provides probably the best and easiest reporting system I have seen. Any user can create in 6 simple steps, a report on any piece of information in the directory.
Dashboard Tab: This gives "visual images" of any report in the directory. Pie charts, line charts, bar charts, and gauge charts. Like they say, a picture says 1000 words.
Pipelines Tab: Allows users to source contacts and candidates against pipelines and not just off of open reqs.
Special Events Tab: This makes the job of managing events and results of those events easy and in one place. Each user can create and manage their own events.
Projects Tab: This tab is used as to track work history on an ongoing basis. Resumes say one thing, but identifying the exact work that someone completes as it is completed and the skills that they used to do it...says another.
Contractors Tab: This tab is used to identify and manage your contingent workforce. Staffing agencies, consultants, and independent contractors can be found here.
Approved Vendors Tab: When it takes a business partnership with your company and another company, here is were you can track that information.
